Black & White Maxi Skirt {3 Ways}

The other day, I was perusing Marshall’s and literally ended up spending a small fortune. I found so many cute things for summer and just simply couldn’t resist. One of my favorite finds of the day was a black & white striped Michael Kors maxi skirt for $34.99. I was just playing around with some things in my closet and put together some quick ensembles with it. {Sorry in advance for some of the smudgies – didn’t realize how my mirror needed a good cleaning – thanks DSLR for pointing that out!}

The top in this first pic is from Target. I got them on a buy 1 get one half off sale, so one was $10, the next was $5. The bauble necklace is that infamous J.Crew lookalike I got off of eBay for $14.99 {sure beats the $150.00 J.Crew price tag!}

The top in this second picture is from Kohl’s last year. I love the shoulder cut-outs and the color. I got it in a few different colors at the time since it was such a steal. Feel free to shop Kohl’s tops collection here. {They are actually giving a 10% online discount to everyone through May 10th, just use the promo code BLOGS10 at checkout!} Again, another J.Crew look-a-like bauble.

And lastly, this is the skirt paired with just a simple black tank. I tucked it in to give more waistline definition.

I have so many other things I can pair with this skirt – its classic lines and colors make it so versatile. It’s going to be a spring/summer staple for sure. It’s so comfy, I could live in it all summer – maybe I will. xoxo

St. Patty’s Outfit {The Deets}

So yesterday in my Monday Musings post, I posted a quick, but not too quality pic of my outfit from St. Patty’s Day. I actually got a few compliments on the get-up while out and about that day, so I thought I would share with all of you just what it’s made of.

Dress: TJ Maxx / Boots: Minnetonka Moccassins / Necklace: Bohme Boutique /  Earrings: Target

Some of you may remember this outfit from the Rascal Flatts/The Band Perry concert I went to on Valentine’s Day when I got to meet The Band Perry backstage! This dress was such a great find at TJ Maxx for $12.99 – and now I have some much-needed green in my closet {I am seriously lacking in that department!} And plus, it is fitting with Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald.

These earrings were a steal at Target for $7.99. I checked and they are not available online, so I suggest you run to your nearest store and raid their jewelry section…they had tons of great stuff.

The necklace is from Bohme Boutique. I got this when I visited Idaho last summer. They do not have these boutiques on the East Coast…I think so far they are only in California and the Northwestern states. So if you live over there, lucky you! They had a great selection of jewelry.

And I tell you, I have not gotten tired of my Minnetonka Moccassins and I don’t think I ever will. LOVE.

Hope y’all had a great St. Patty’s Day! xoxo

Fitting Room Fun

I found some time last week to hit Target sans kids so I thought it would be best to take advantage of the opportunity to actually get to try on some clothes in the dressing rooms.

I found some cute things…

Thought I’d go ahead and get that one out of the way…I was actually going back and forth on sharing this one here…but hey, if this blog is going to be honest and raw…then I have to let go of some insecurities, right?

I tried on this bikini and I actually really liked it. The bottom seemed kind of baggy, but I felt if I went down a size, it wouldn’t give the coverage I like on the backside {thank you, Tanner & Breckin}. I’m still in the midst of getting in bikini shape for summer. I didn’t get this, but maybe if it’s still in stock a month from now, I’ll try it on again.

I loved the color of these shorts {could not find link online, but check your local store}. And the length was just right – flattering because it didn’t show too much upper thigh. I’ll feel like I can bend over safely when chasing my little one at the play parks and such.

I also went ahead and bought them in jean blue…

That top is also great…I mentioned it in this post last week. It goes great with leggings, I had been looking for a light, layering sweater to pair with leggings and skinnies.

Lastly, I loved this bright blue maxi skirt. It is longer in the back than the front.

I am so in the mood for spring weather so I can start rocking these things!

Friday Five

Happy Friday, Darlings. Five things I love this week:

One.

Found out @MinnetonkaMocc started following me on Twitter last month {can’t believe I just now noticed!} and they’ve retweeted me not once, but TWICE! At the risk of sounding like a total dork, I have to say it gave me the warm fuzzies.

They retweeted this post and this post. {Pssst…if you’re a Twitter user, my handle is @morgalicious483. Would love the follow. Let me know yours!}

Two.

Thanks to Ashley at Turquoise & Teale, I discovered this game available at Amazon:

How fun is that? I am soooo getting this game…my fellow Charlestonian friends will love it!

Three.

Tried on this sweater at Target and had to buy…I had been looking for a long layering sweater to wear with leggings. It’s shorter in the front than the back and a very light, breathable, weaved fabric. Super comfy.

Xhilaration® Juniors High Low Marl Sweater - Assorted Colors
$22.99 at Target

Four.

Picked up this nail color at my local CVS Pharmacy, It’s called Plastic Flamingo by Spoiled {Wet n’ Wild}. It’s the perfect bright pink for spring and summer…pretty much flourescent! And it’s only $1.99. Don’t get me wrong, I love the array of colors that Essie makes, but I truly cringe at the thought of spending $8.00 or so on one color of polish.

Five.

Getting back into Bikram Yoga classes so I can pull off stuff like this again…I had been letting my flexibility slip away and I just simply can’t keep letting that happen!

Have a great weekend. Weather is supposed to be 70 and not rainy on Sunday, so I can hopefully get the boys out to the beach! xoxo

Moving On…

I realize I haven’t posted much this past week…my mind has definitely been elsewhere. On Saturday, I was laid off from my job at Boeing. I had been a contractor there for about 15 months. I’ve done my best to keep my head up about it, though it came as a shock, I haven’t shed a tear. I’m doing my best to keep my faith in God’s plan for me. I know I’m an intelligent, worthwhile person, and the right gig is out there waiting for me. Boeing emotionally drained me in many ways. I gave so much of my time and energy into all that I did there…I worked many overtime hours and weekends…I took every new task thrown my way in stride and just kept running with it. It hurts to feel like it was all for nothing. I made friends there that I am missing dearly…not seeing some of them every day is a definite bummer. But I’m trying not to focus on that…and just…move on. {At least I can hope that the friends I’ve made will still be there, even though my job isn’t.}

The good news is that I have already found a new job and I start Monday. The pay SUCKS…but at least it’s something to get me by until the next opportunity comes along. I’ve had 2 other interviews since that one that seem promising and I have one tomorrow as well. I am crossing my fingers that the right job with the right salary will happen upon me.

But anyhow…enough about my job situation…I’m confident that will get better.

Now onto more important things…I had a chance to stop by Target today {though I doubt I’ll be making any extravagant purchases any time soon, a girl can dream…} and I found a few cute new items on their shelves.

This could be a great candy bowl {not too small of candy!}:

This tray was so chic in person. I love the woven pattern, so unique:

And is this not the most fun vase ever?

This pillow is just too cute:

And this graphic has been very popular lately, not a bad price here:

Grosgrain Applique Toss Pillow (18x18")

And last, but certainly not least on my list – this table. I’d love two of them as our master bedside tables:

Hope y’all have a great week…here’s to hoping I’ll be back to the normal grind soon. xoxo.

Target: Dining Chairs

So thanks to my post about mesh dining table chairs, I have been relentlessly perusing the Internet to find just the right ones at a reasonable price. And then I happened upon all of these beauties {at Target, no less!}

These chevron ones might be my fave, would totally play well into our new gray/white/black kitchen {aslo available in black and white}:

Target – $179.99 for 2

The trellis look is also very chic…I think this pattern is playful, yet classy:

Target – $179.99 for 2

 This trellis pattern gives off a nice formal vibe:

And well, sorry, but when I see zebra stripes, I simply can’t resist {wonder if the hubby will go for it? Would totally match the zebra stripe chargers I just purchased from Hobby Lobby!}:

Target – 199.99 for 2

These are more fitting with the style I was going for, sans the mesh…but they look sturdy, clean and they are stackable if I ever need to make room – great price too:

Target – $79.99 for 2

I could definitely see these ones at a long dining table for a Christmas dinner…very chic and formal:

In true Target fashion, all of these chairs are stylish and affordable. Couldn’t help but share them with you! xoxo
