Monday Musings

If y’all read my post on Friday, you know that this weekend was pretty difficult for me. We ended up taking Tundra to the vet to be put to sleep. After speaking with the vet, we were just told that of the few options we had, the chances were still not very good and with her already suffering just to breathe every day, we knew it was the right thing to do. To our surprise, the veterinarian and a vet tech of hers offered to take Tundra and try some things, but that involved us relinquishing our ownership of her to them. She said her chances would be like 20%, but they really wanted to try. So we figured at least this way it gave her any possible chance she had. So we did not have to put her to sleep. The vet is going to make her comfortable while trying everything they can, and if in the end it doesn’t work, or they can’t do these things while keeping her comfortable, then they will humanely put her to sleep. It’s been strange…it seemed like things just went from bad to worse so fast with her…and it was so awful to know I did everything I could for her from the day I adopted her 5 months ago, yet it wasn’t enough for her. On Friday I just balled and hugged her. This is one last shot I got of us together…it’s eery looking at her, it’s almost as if she knew.

We went to Charlotte that evening to visit Jake’s brother’s family and to meet our new niece, Peyton. I guess that helped keep my mind off things…but coming back to a dog-less house was hard. I walk around and expect her to be right at my feet. I miss her so much, but feel comfort that she is still on this Earth right now, and that every avenue to save her is truly being tried.

We’re talking about getting another dog soon…and I actually found a Siberian Husky on Craigslist, but hubby is hesitant. We will see…I have a soft spot for huskies and they are hard to come by, so I almost thought it was meant to be that one was posted the same day. And we have all this dog stuff and no dog…and Breckin loved having a dog.

Speaking of Breckin, this guy got a big boy haircut. I went a bit shorter than last time:

And before hitting the road to go home yesterday, I made hubby take me to IKEA. I got a few fun things to get some projects completed with around here and can’t wait to show you. I definitely plan on making time to go there every time we go to Charlotte to see Jake’s family.

Anyway, I’m ready to take on this week, move on from the sadness of losing my pup, and just try to stay positive. Starting bright and early with a shift at the gym at 4:30 this AM and then a barre class afterward.

Have a great week!

A Solemn Day and a Sad Goodbye

Not much to say today…my heart is breaking right now. I let y’all know yesterday that my Siberian Husky, Tundra, has been sick with breathing issues since her heartworm treatment. I have only had her 5 months…and I’ve done everything I can to try and save her. I wish she had been taken care of because no dog deserves this…and I was duped into adopting her thinking she had a clean bill of health. But I do not regret knowing her…she is a good puppy and I’m glad she didn’t die alone out on the streets…I’m glad I could give her a nice family and lots of love. She has taken a turn for the worse and I know she is suffering and that this life is not quality for her, so it is with a heavy heart that I have to take her to the vet today to say goodbye. I will be back here on Monday…

Thursday Randomness & My Roxy Review

Hey y’all! Just wanted to drop in really quick this Thursday with some randomness. I worked the 4:30am shift at my gym this morning and then worked out after that, so now I’m home and needless to say, a little drained!

Fun stuff though, you might remember that as a blogger for Skinny Mom, I got to try out the new Roxy Outdoor Fitness Collection and provide a review. The review included a dare of doing yoga on the beach in their gear…check out the post here. Here’s a few of the pictures my lovely friend, Jackie, took of me on the beach for the post:

Hmmmmm…which one of these shall I make my new Facebook profile pic? LOL. We had so much fun that day…I posted on here how we ended up getting some delicious breakfast burritos and drinking a pitcher of Mimosas at Acme Cantina on Sullivan’s Island.

In other news, the hubby and my oldest son, Tanner, are off to Charlotte this weekend to meet our new niece, Payton. I really wish Breckin and I could go, but unfortunately, my Siberian Husky, Tundra, is having some health issues and I’m having to give her medicine every day for at least another week. Can’t take her to doggy daycare and don’t want to just pay someone to drop in here and there, leaving her in a crate all day Saturday and Sunday. And who could do that to this big baby?

She has no shame.

Jake’s brother and his family will be visiting here for Easter though, so not much longer until I meet the new addition. ♥

We spent a good bit of this week working on the new pantry and I can’t wait to reveal it to y’all on here. I need to paint the walls and I am trying to think of a way to prettify the shelves, giving it a little “pop”. So soon, my darlings, soon.

Well, that’s about it for now. Don’t forget to check out the Roxy post on Skinny Mom today! xoxo

Friday Five

Happy Friday, y’all!

Oh my I am hurting today. I’ve been at work since 5am {with a full weekend of work ahead} and I am exhausted. My friend, Chrissy, is getting married tomorrow, so last night I attended her  lingerie shower at a nice beach house on Isle of Palms. Even though I left at 8:30pm, I am super-tired today and my heavy lids keep trying to close as we speak. We’ll see how I do Saturday evening at her reception…ha!
I don’t have much for you this Friday unfortunately, as you can tell, it’s been a busy week of early to bed, early to rise. And if you read yesterday’s post, you know that Fit For Fashion Fridays is ending here and will resume on my fitness blog, i-Heart Fitness {under a different meme name}.
So I think for today, I’m going to give you my Friday Five…things I’m lovin’ lately:
1. Tundra
I adopted this beautiful girl on September 25th. If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already heard that she had a slew of medical issues when I took her to my vet – including heartworm. The other things were mostly minor and easily treated…but the heartworm treatment is going to be an expensive and long process. We started her on it this week…and I have to keep her activity very low for a few months, which means little to no walks with her…and she just loves her walks so she’s always howling at me to take her when I get home…it breaks my heart a little, but I don’t want to overexert her during this process. I am glad I found her and she is so sweet…I can’t wait for this stuff to be over with so she can enjoy her life more.
2. The Handbuilt Home
via
I picked up this book at Barnes and Noble the other day and I just love it. So many great plans…I’ve already pointed out to Handy Hubby some of the pieces I’d really like to make {he of course, as a carpenter, insists he didn’t need this book to tell him how to make something}…but anyway, it’s given me tons of ideas for my own home. It’s written by Ana White, author of the Ana White – Homemaker blog. I know most of you already check out her blog daily as she is AMAZING…but if you haven’t, you should because you surely won’t be disappointed.
3. Studded Wrist Wraps

Which brings me to my next love of late:
4. Arm Parties

5. Plaid Flannel Shirts

Actually wearing this one right now!
Have a great weekend! xoxo
